Weekly Spotlight: This week meet Victoria Sanchez
"Dance has always been apart of my life. I am 14. My name is Tori and i have been dancing from when I was three. I only took one year off and this is my 10th year. However, it was not until this year that dance really became my life. This is my first year on a competition team. Dance has become my outlet from everything. The people at my studio are such an inspiration as are the people that are always around me. There are three people in particular that I really can count on. My dance teacher Miss Jen, and two of my best friends, Natalie and Jenna. If they were not in my world I would not be the person that I am today. Dance is now an outlet and a way to express myself and my feelings in a way that I love. I hope that one day I can teach and inspire other people just as my friends and those who teach me new things have done. I love to dance and I hope that I can share my love with others! :) "

Weekly Spotlight: This week meet Caity Radice
"Chance 2 Dance was created because I love to dance and I love to volunteer and serve my community. I have created a volunteer organization whose mission is to inspire a love of dance and a feeling of team camaraderie in all children, regardless of age, ability, or social status. Chance 2 Dance pairs volunteers with children in YMCA aftercare programs. In class, which meets at least once a week, (sometimes twice because I just can't stay away), we work on stretching, healthy movement, and musicality. Chance 2 Dance is not about learning choreography though; it is about learning to work as a team, to stay motivated and work hard, and to follow through on your commitment. We do dance battles and freestyle solos so that we learn to cheer for and support our friends! Not everybody wants to dance in the show, but once you decide you will, you need to follow through because your crew is counting on you! Learning to dance is not even the most important part of Chance 2 Dance. It’s all about helping children to be the best that they can, to be kind and supportive, to work together, to be confident, to see that hard work pays off!
I am so proud of Chance 2 Dance and the children that I work with. I am privileged to be able to share with them all that dance has given me. I want these kids to know that they matter, that they deserve the “Chance 2 Dance,” that it will make them smarter, stronger, more confident and respectful. These are the things I have learned through years of dance. These are the values that I want to share with my kids! This is the way I have chosen to “GoShow” myself!"

Weekly Spotlight: This week meet Elyse Hamme
"My trip to Florence, Italy was a life changing experience! There I was flying to another country for a 6-week classical training program, alone. I went thinking I was going to tear the house down the second I sang. Instead, my voice had other plans. In fact, it had gradually gotten worse. I didn’t know it then but I had polyps. I couldn’t participate in voice class or do much of anything that required me to sing…No this cannot be happening! It was then that I noticed how some of the other girls would fall to pieces when they felt that their voices were “less than perfect”. It was unnecessary stress, and I decided I didn’t want to remember my trip that way. I took it upon myself to capitalize and truly seize every moment whilst I was out there. I conquered some of my biggest fears, learned a new language, built bonds with some amazing individuals AND although my coaches strongly advised against it, I got up and performed as if nothing was wrong. I made it work, with or without sound! Florence really embraced me and mainly because I allowed myself to be embraced. That trip showed me what I was made of and revealed my endless potential. While others went solely for the musical education, I was educated on myself. Upon the many things that I took away from that trip, one of them was; my dreams should always remain fluid, lighten up! Laugh."

Weekly Spotlight: This week meet Courtney Ortiz
"My dance teacher growing up, Donna Jean Wienecke, was the heart and soul of our dance studio. She inspired me more then I can describe and is one of the reasons why I choose to pursue a dance career. She always knew how to make dance fun in class and you could see it every day, how much she truly loved her job. She is such a huge influence to me to this day. Although Ms. Donna is no longer with us, I know she is always watching over all her dancers and is proud to see what they accomplish through the years. She is always with me when I'm dancing and I hope I make her proud up there. I love and miss you Ms. Donna, thank you for making me the dancer I am today!"
